What's New at the Duke Heart Center
Duke Heart Center received the American College of Cardiology Foundation's NCDR ACTION Registry-GWTG Gold Performance Achievement Award for 2009 - one of only 121 hospitals nationwide to do so. Matthew Roe, MD, Chair of the Research and Publications Sub-Committee for ACTION Registry-GWTG, received the award on DUH's behalf during the Scientific Sessions.
Rob Califf, MD, was one of six individuals the American Heart Association recognized as Distinguished Scientists for 2009 for their research that has advanced the understanding of cardiovascular disease and stroke.
Robert Lefkowitz, MD, received the prestigious Research Achievement Award "for transformative discoveries of cellular receptors, seminal findings that have created a cascade of biomedical innovation leading to more effective treatments for human disease."
